SSWLHC Announces Tom Sedgwick as President-Elect

PHILADELPHIA, PA (May 3, 2016) – The Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care (SSWLHC), announces Tom Sedgwick, MSSW, LCSW, ACSW, CCM as President-Elect. He will become the organization’s 50th President in 2017.

Tom is a former President of the New York Metropolitan Chapter of SSWLHC and remains active as a member of the local board. He has served on the SSWLHC’s national board of directors since 2014. Tom served three terms on the Board of Directors of the New York City Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) as Member at Large, Treasurer, and Vice President respectively.

Tom is also the 2014 recipient of NASW’s Dr. James R. Dumpson Chapter Service Award. He was appointed in July 2010 to be a member of National NASW’s Health Section Committee and served as Section Chair from 2013- 2015. His professional career has focused on hospital operations, community partnerships, and palliative and end of life care. Tom is currently the Director of Social Work at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City. Two previous Presidents of the SSWLHC also came from NYU Langone Medical Center, Maurice Russell (1972) and Richard Woodrow (2006).
