Description:
Social workers practicing across health care settings were enlisted by COVID19 to engage in serious illness conversations with patients and families. Serious illness conversation is infused with descriptors, phrases and concepts that reflect overgeneralization, all or nothing thinking, judgments and bias that influence patient family experience, decisional outcomes, bereavement and legacy. This workshop engages social workers as experts in communication to become leaders and advocates to influence and enhance word choice.
