Committees

The Society has several committees and work groups. These groups have two purposes. They are designed to expand members’ opportunities to influence and serve the profession at the national level. The groups extend the Board’s ability to provide member benefits in order to attain the goals of the Society. Committee Chairs welcome volunteers and value their expertise and leadership in the organization.

Marketing Committee

  • Bring awareness of the Society to non-members and potential sponsors.

Leadership Institute Committee

  • Develop events through the SSWLHC fiscal year with a focus to:
    • Appreciate, demonstrate, and communicate the unique role of social work leaders and leadership
    • Identify assumptions about leadership; understand personal leadership styles and competencies
    • Identify core leadership competencies and articulate ways to leverage them to achieve specific goals within their work settings

Publications and Products Committee

  • Produce four issues of the Social Work Leader per year
  • Identify best practices
  • Develop one CEU publication annually
  • Announce products and education offerings through blast emails
  • Facilitate printing and distribution of new products

Website And Social Media Committee

  • Identify opportunities for enhancing website usage, content, and exposure
  • Create and implement a process for ensuring website content is updated and accurate
  • Bring awareness of SSWLHC via social media platforms including, but not limited to Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter

Evidence-Based Practice Work Group

  • Identify measurements for assessing the effectiveness and efficacy of social work services in healthcare settings
  • Develop, secure endorsement, and copyright standards of practice

Annual Meeting Committee

  • Plan Annual Meeting content, curriculum, review blind abstract submission, and host event
  • Develop corporate relationships to obtain vendor and exhibitor financial support

  • Recruit sponsors and exhibitors for annual meeting
  • Develop a corporate sponsorship program

Chapter Relations Committee

  • Sustain a strong working relationship between national and local chapters and their supporting education, networking, and linkage with the national SSWLHC

Membership Committee

  • Increase and strengthen the Society’s membership and retention in each membership category

Mentoring Committee

  • Serve on an oversight committee that develops contacts and links interested members with mentors
